As the title 'A Million Dreams' suggests, this evening was all about dreams that the characters in the various musicals as well as the performers and of course everyone else has in their lives - from Simba, the little lion from "The Lion King", who wants to be king one day, to Count von Krolock's dream of love from "Dance of the Vampires".
The young performers, and of course Mr. Seidel and Ms. Hartzell, filled the stage with a naturalness and energy that swept the audience away. The students excelled themselves and sang and danced with passion, showing how much commitment they had put into the preparations. The individual pieces were interspersed with interviews and anecdotes from the performers, which turned one or two tears of emotion into tears of laughter.
We learned a lot about the extensive preparations and rehearsals and also why the students had chosen this GTA.
It's always great to see when pupils surpass themselves and perhaps even surprise themselves a little with what they are capable of.
The effort on and behind the stage was more than worth it. It was a very successful and emotional evening.
Mr. Seidel is also planning a musical gala with the GTA for this school year, which we are all eagerly awaiting.
