A visit to the Zwickau theater

On Thursday, 02.06.2022, we visited the theater in Zwickau with the 7th grade of the International Secondary School Reinsdorf. With the guided tour we managed to link career orientation with the curriculum of the WTH lessons.

In the first part of the tour, theater educator Mrs. Schlegel led us through the theater and let the students look behind the scenes.

It became particularly interesting when we were able to take a closer look at the constructed stage set of "Frankenstein". Then we went on to the artists' dressing rooms, the props room and the technical areas of the theater.

During the tour, Mrs. Schlegel told us about the different professions at the theater. For example, we learned about the jobs of stage managers and learned that, in addition to actors and make-up artists, carpenters and locksmiths also work at the theater, since almost all props are made in-house.

After breakfast, Mr. Helbig led us through his realm of 130,000 costumes.

The costumes are also sewn on site in the company's own tailor shop.

The students got every step explained by Mrs. Naumann - from the first idea to the finished costume.

The best came at the end, of course. The students were allowed to choose one of Tino Helbig's costume masterpieces and put it on.

We, Mr. Seidel (WTH teacher) and Mrs. Pade (practical advisor) as well as class 7 of the International Secondary School Reinsdorf, would like to take this opportunity to thank the team of the Gewandhaus Zwickau once again for the guided tours and the interesting impressions. Susann Pade
