On the one hand, we wanted to further strengthen the relationship between Katharinenhof and our International Schools Reinsdorf, as there have already been a number of joint activities with residents and pupils in previous years. Our visits were intended to bring even more variety into the residents' everyday lives and the pupils were to learn how to establish contact with the residents and overcome any prejudices and inhibitions.
Another aim was to get a taste of the day-to-day work of the nursing home staff and to see whether working with people or in care is a career option.
At first, it wasn't easy to get to know the residents. We first got to know each other better by going for walks together and playing cards. After that, the activities became more and more varied. The residents and our girls baked cookies together, painted their nails, planted early bloomers, did sports, painted, did handicrafts, read... The visits were not always the same, because just like the students, the residents also had good days and not so good days.
Looking back, however, it was a great and special time for both sides at Katharinenhof that they will remember for a long time to come.
Our 5 girls got a very practical insight into everyday life and made new contacts. Lina, for example, also completed her compulsory school internship in year 9 at Katharinenhof to gain an even more detailed insight.
We would like to thank Katharinenhof for the trust they have placed in us to implement this GTA for them.
A special thank you goes to Ms. Raue, who took a lot of time for us. She planned and prepared the activities together with the girls and was on hand with patience and advice, even in difficult situations.
