SIS students among the top ten geographers in Saxony

On Monday, January 9, 2025, a total of 30 students from all schools in Saxony came together at the IHK location in Dresden to compete against each other in the final of the 19th Saxon Geo-Olympiad.

The pupils were able to qualify by completing various preliminary heats. In the first round, the best students from the 7th and 10th grades were determined within the school. The winners were then invited to the second stage. Here they competed against the other school winners from the LASUB catchment area of Zwickau. Our student Lucas from class 7a of the International Secondary School Reinsdorf came second and qualified for the final in Dresden.

Out of a total of 18,000 pupils, the best 15 from years 7 and 10 then competed in Dresden. Cartographic knowledge as well as general knowledge and complex questions were tested.

In the end, Lucas achieved a more than satisfactory 9th place, making him one of the ten best geographers in Saxony. Congratulations and congratulations to Lucas!
