BO hiking days of the classes 7IOR and 8IOR

In the last two weeks, before the well-deserved summer vacations, our 7th and 8th graders went to Leipzig for their "Berufsorientierungs - Wandertage". Since we have explored in the course of the school year mainly companies and enterprises in the proximity of Reinsdorf, it goes in the context of the BO hiking days gladly sometimes somewhat farther away. Class 8 went to the airport Leipzig/Halle on 29.06.23 and class 7 went to the MDR studios on 05.07.23.

As part of an airport tour, we explored Leipzig/Halle Airport. The tour started with a lecture about the different apprenticeship professions at the airport. The students sat on the seats of an old airplane and were thus perfectly prepared for the upcoming tour. Afterwards, we set off with our guide to explore the airport and see the professions in action. First, we were guided through the airport on foot and after an appropriate security check, the class took the airport bus around the outside of the airport. During the bus ride, we got very close to the planes. We were able to observe the loading and unloading processes as well as the refueling of the planes from a few meters away. Our bus stopped at the airport fire department and the students learned many interesting things about the everyday life of firefighters at an airport. The class found the day very exciting. They saw many interesting things behind the scenes at the airport and learned about a variety of new professions.

The following week, the 7th graders went on the MDR studio tour. Where better to learn about professions in the media field than in a film studio. We arrived punctually at the Media City site and were met by a studio tour guide. At the beginning of the tour, the young people took their seats in a so-called green box. The class got an explanation of how it works and one student got to try her hand at being a news anchor. In another room, some of the students had their picture taken in front of a green wall and were then placed in front of a background of their choice. So they found themselves right next to the elephants of the Leipzig ZooJ. After that, the tour of the MDR studios began with lots of interesting information and new impressions. The class was able to (quietly) look over the shoulders of the staff on the set, saw the studio of "Riverboat" and looked behind the scenes of "In aller Freundschaft". During this tour, everyone became aware that it is a long process from the idea to the realization of a broadcast format, involving many different employees in very different areas. The students will not soon forget this insight into the media world.
