Award ceremony for excellent vocational orientation

For the many years of excellent vocational orientation at our International Secondary School Reinsdorf, we were awarded the "Saxon Seal of Quality for Vocational Orientation".

Only 51 schools in Saxony currently bear the seal of quality for vocational orientation. This may not seem like much, but it is understandable when you consider that the seal is not awarded to a special individual project in vocational orientation. Fortunately, there are many good individual projects at many schools. The quality seal is much more: it is an award of excellence for a joint effort over several years. So it is not the one thing that makes your high school's vocational orientation stand out. It is the sum and quality of many individual contributions to Vocational Orientation that together create a new quality.

Jury assessment

The International Secondary School Reinsdorf has a very good concept for vocational orientation. It has been regularly reviewed, further developed and enriched with new building blocks in the past years. The presentation as BO-level concept, which is visible on the school website and in the school building, creates exemplary transparency for students, the teaching staff, parents and cooperation partners. The BO team consisting of the teacher responsible for BO, the practical advisor, the school administrator and the class teachers steers the implementation of BO as a cross-sectional task.

In class, in projects and extracurricular activities, the children and young people are challenged and encouraged with regard to their interests, abilities and strengths. On the basis of the potential analysis in grade 7, they can continuously deal with their strengths, interests and professional ideas.

A variety of methods and project formats are used for this purpose. For example, self-assessment and peer-assessment questionnaires are used in the subject classes, the young people complete an interest course with the career counselor, take advantage of the "Come on Tour" day of action and the "Talenteschmiede" workshop, as well as VR glasses to explore occupational fields. In addition, all-day activities, reading afternoons, language and sports competitions, the school radio station, and much more offer girls and boys the opportunity to develop and demonstrate their interests and skills.

The work of the International Secondary School Reinsdorf is outstanding with regard to the quality standard practical orientation. The BO-team does an excellent cooperation work for this. Practical orientation takes place systematically from grade 5 onwards within the framework of company explorations, practical days, internships, training fairs, action days such as "genialsozial".

In addition, subject lessons are designed with a high level of relevance to the world of work. As early as grades 5 and 6, students complete a three-day trial internship in companies of their choice. This is followed by occupational field explorations in grade 7 and workshop days in grade 8. The block internship follows in grade 9, and in grade 10 there is the option of completing a vacation internship with the support of the school. The preparation of the application portfolio is designed as an important milestone regarding the reflection and application of the results and experiences.
The jury estimates that the school succeeds in accompanying each student individually, in encouraging regular comparison between academic performance and career aspirations, and in securing the transition from school to further education. According to parent representatives, the school's excellent work in vocational orientation is often a decisive factor in the decision to attend the school.

As a result of the procedure, the jury finally determines that the International Secondary School Reinsdorf continues to meet the standards of a school with a quality seal. The period of validity of the seal is thus extended by five years. Congratulations!
